NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - Following a record-breaking season on the field, the Norwich University women's lacrosse team has once again been recognized for its academic excellence, earning multiple year-end honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), as announced by the organization this week.
The Cadets were selected as a 2025 IWLCA Academic Honor Squad after exceeding the 3.20 team GPA threshold required for selection. Â Norwich was one of 376 institutions across Division I, II, III, and NAIA to earn the distinction, continuing a longstanding tradition of excellence in the classroom.
Individually, eight Norwich student-athletes were named to the 2025 IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll. Â To qualify, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Â Representing Norwich on this year's list are graduate students
Neris Archambault (Pepperell, Mass.),
Leocadia Clark (Stowe, Vt.),
Carlie Henning (Dawsonville, Ga.), and
Celine Juneau (Chazy, N.Y.); seniors
Ellie Moriarty (Stowe, Vt.) and
Julia Proto (Orange, Conn.); and juniors
Caitlyn Fielder (East Calais, Vt.) and
Athena Merck (West Yarmouth, Mass.).
Together, the eight student-athletes combined for 123 goals and 68 assists, totaling 191 points across the 2025 season. Â They also tallied 176 ground balls, 133 caused turnovers, and 124 draw controls.
Several of the honorees were also major contributors during the Cadets' historic 2025 campaign. Â Moriarty, Fielder, Juneau, Merck, and Proto all earned All-Conference recognition from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) this spring after leading Norwich to a 15-3 overall record, the most wins in a single season in program history. Â The Cadets reached the GNAC Semifinals for the first time since 2014 and rode a 12-game winning streak, the second-longest stretch ever by the program, midway through the season.
The IWLCA Academic Honor Roll included 1,284 student-athletes from 202 institutions across NCAA Division III this year. Â The organization, which represents more than 500 institutional programs and over 1,200 coaches and staff across all NCAA and NAIA divisions, is dedicated to recognizing achievement both on the field and in the classroom.
Norwich's strong presence in the 2025 IWLCA academic awards is the latest benchmark in a season filled with individual and team accomplishments, further highlighting the program's continued growth and commitment to all-around excellence.
