BOSTON - Norwich traveled to historic Nickerson Field for a Saturday evening match under the lights. The Cadets scored first at the 10-minute mark from sophomore prop Seamus Page. Senior flyhalf Chris Hein added a tough conversion from the corner, NU 7- BU 0.
Both teams contested for the ball for almost fifteen minutes. Near the in-goal, off a BU penalty, Norwich scores its second try when senior winger Brandon Drennan dives over for the try. 23 minutes in Norwich is up 12-0. Norwich closes out the second half with a penalty kick from Hein at the 38th minute. At the half it is NU-15 BU-0.
Page scores his second try of the night to give Norwich a 20-0 lead. The Cadets maintained go forward ball which resulted in two more tries, at the 70th minute by junior scrumhalf Chad Wasson and at the 75th minute by senior flanker Josh Nowak. The final match of the regular season ends, NU34- BU0.
"BU never gave up and neither did we. Our work rate was positive from start to finish," said head coach Bob Weggler.
Norwich finishes the regular season with a NECRC record of 5-1 and 6-2 overall. In the first round of the NECRC playoffs Norwich (#2 seed) will host the (#3 seed) University of Vermont on this Saturday November 3rd. Kickoff time is slated for noon.
When Norwich and UVM met in September it was an exciting 33-29 finish with NU on top.
