PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The freshman duo of Alex Stewart (Ellicott City, Md.) and Nick Moore (Topeka, Kansas) highlighted Norwich University's dual at Plymouth State Nov. 16.
Stewart, wrestling up a weight at 133, earned his seventh win of the season with a 3-1 vctory over Tom Paolera. Moore, competing at 197, upended Zac Giovanetti 5-2.
Coach John Hartupee's squad narrowly missed making the dual against the New England Wrestling Conference's fifth-ranked team even closer. Sophomore 141-pounder Tyrell Carstarphen (Topeka, Kansas) took Josh Thornton to overtime in an 11-9 loss, while freshman 165-pounder Cody Gladstone (Merrimack, N.H.) and sophomore heavyweight Anthony Joyce (Lincoln, R.I.) each dropped two-point decisions, too.
Hartupee's team continues the 2011-12 season at the SUNY-Oneonta Red Dragon Classic Saturday, Nov. 19. NU's next dual is its home opener Dec. 10 against Roger Williams.
