Men's Soccer: Second Half Play Puts Norwich Behind Castleton, 2-1

Box Score

CASTLETON, Vt. – Sophomore  Jake Leclaire scored his sixth goal of the season to take a 1-0 early second half lead before the Castleton State Spartans (6-4-0) pulled ahead in the second half of play to serve a 2-1 loss to the Cadets (4-5-1) on Wednesday night.

With a direct kick 18 yards out from the Spartans net, freshman William Flanagan served a well placed ball in the box to a well-positioned Leclaire who was there to net a header goal and give the Cadets a one-goal advantage in the first couple minutes of the second half. The Spartans rebounded the action with two goals minutes apart in the 76th and 78th minute of the game.

As Castleton outshot Norwich 15-6, Cadets' freshman goalkeeper Alex Toomey earned four saves in his 90-minutes of playing time.

Norwich returns to action on Saturday with a noon-time game versus the Emmanuel Saints. Following up the action at Emmanuel will be the Cadets women's soccer squad, kicking off shortly after at 3 p.m.
