MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Cadets men's
soccer team (3-4-1) faced a 7-0 shutout to the undefeated Panthers
(4-0) of Middlebury College on Wednesday at Middlebury.
"With the number of injuries we have, we decided to take the
opportunity to rest a few others as well," head coach Kyle
Dezotell said. "We also gave an opportunity to many
untested players to see how they would respond to facing a great
team. Our crucial game this week is Saturday versus Johnson
and Wales."
Of these players, Norwich put two fresh faces in net to face the
Panthers. Sophomore Sam Armus saw 75 minutes of
goal time, earning eight saves in his season debut. Freshman
Zach McMillan made his collegiate entrance in the
final 15 minutes of action, setting aside two of the
Panther's shots on goal.
The Cadets return to Norwich to play on Howard Field on
Saturday, hosting Johnson and Wales in a doubleheader with the
women's soccer team. The men kick off the action at 1 p.m.,
followed by the women at 3:30 p.m.
