men's soccer team could not get past a tough Albertus Magnus squad
Saturday afternoon, falling by a 2-1 score in Great Northeast
Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.
After a scoreless first half that saw Albertus (4-1-0, 1-0-0
GNAC) outshoot the Cadets, 12-5, the Falcons found the back of the
net in the 69th minute. Jamal Howard finished a deflection off
a free kick by Steven Zapata.
Norwich (2-2-1, 0-1-0 GNAC) tied the game at 1-1 in the 79th
minute on an impressive header finish from freshman D Anthony
Amell.
Rafael Guillen scored the eventual game winner for AMC,
finishing a header of his own on Zapata's corner kick with
just seven minutes left to play.
Freshman goalkeeper Alex Toomey made 10 saves for Norwich, while
Donato Piroscafo had two stops in picking up the win for the
Falcons.
The Cadets return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 14, when they host
in-state rival Johnson State at Howard Field. The game is set to
get underway at 3:30 p.m.
