NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The Norwich University men's soccer team lost its second straight match on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 2-1 decision to MCLA in the first round of the MCLA CIAO Classic.

Tedd Cecchetelli scored the game-winning goal midway through the second half to help propel the Trailblazers (1-0) to the victory. Cecchetelli took a nifty feed from Robert Dalby and scored what proved to be the game winner in the 65th minute.

Norwich (0-2) put the pressure on over the final 25 minutes, but the Cadets were unable to net the equalizer.

Both teams had opportunities in the first half, and Norwich eventually broke through in the 30th minute when Bobby Begin headed home a Chris Rivet corner kick.

The Cadets' lead stood up until early in the second half when Tom Murphy scored on a penalty kick in the 51st minute. Murphy beat NU goalkeeper Charles Maxwell to the upper left-hand corner of the cage.

Maxwell (0-2) kept Norwich in the game throughout, making seven saves on the day. Evan Coe (1-0) stopped four shots for MCLA en route to the victory.

MCLA outshot Norwich, 18-16, but the Cadets held a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Norwich wraps up play at the MCLA CIAO Classic on Sunday, Sept. 6, when the Cadets battle SUNY Cobleskill at 2 p.m.
