EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Danny Hudson and Bobby
Begin both scored twice as the Norwich University men's soccer team
rolled past Johnson & Wales, 6-1, in a Great Northeast Athletic
Conference (GNAC) match Saturday afternoon.
Norwich (7-6-2, 3-3-1 GNAC) has scored 14 goals over its last
two games after netting just four goals in its previous five
contests.
Hudson netted his first goal less than three minutes into the
match when he stole the ball from a JWU defender and scored from 10
yards out. The goal, which was the first of Hudson's career, gave
the Cadets a 1-0 lead at the 2:18 mark.
Begin made it 2-0 in the 17th minute when he converted a cross
from Bridger Van Ness. Mike Ravenelle extended Norwich's lead to
3-0 in the 25th minute when he scored off of a Chris Rivet direct
kick.
Johnson & Wales (2-12-0, 2-4-0 GNAC) got on the scoreboard
at the 29:00 mark when Matt Pagano tallied a goal off a feed from
Eric Flath.
Hudson struck again in the 39th minute, scoring his second
marker of the game off a pass from Kyle Buscaglia to give NU a 4-1
halftime lead.
Begin added an insurance tally in the 67th minute when he scored
his second goal of the game, and Garrett Shufelt capped the scoring
when he converted a penalty kick in the 79th minute.
Norwich returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 21, when the Cadets
host GNAC foe Lasell College in a crucial conference clash.
Gametime for the pivotal league match is slated for 3 p.m.
