NASHUA, N.H. - Senior forward Ryan Boyton
scored one goal and assisted on three others, and senior forward
Drew Dilley scored two goals as the Norwich University men's
soccer team ripped Rivier, 8-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic
Conference match on Saturday.
Norwich (13-1-1, 7-0-1 GNAC), scored six goals in the first
17:18 of the first half, and tallied a total of seven first half
markers en route to the comfortable victory over winless Rivier
(0-14, 0-6).
Dilley got the Cadets on the scoreboard in the fourth
minute when he scored off an assist from Boyton at the 3:12 mark.
Just 1:37 later, junior forward Jake Yaris made it 2-0 when he
converted a feed from Boyton at the 4:49 mark.
Dilley increased the Cadets' advantage to 3-0 at the 8:34 mark
when he took a pass from Boyton and scored. Senior forward Rob
Harlow increased NU's lead to 4-0 at the 11:12 mark as he
capitalized following a pass from sophomore midfielder Roger
Motaze.
Boyton scored his team-leading 15th goal of the season in the
15th minute when he converted a pass from sophomore defender Jon
Amell. Senior forward Jason Bliss got into the action at the 17:18
mark when he scored off an assist from Mike Lee.
Amell rounded out the first half scoring when he netted a goal
off an assist from Bliss. Sophomore defender Zach Blodgett capped
the scoring early in the second half when he netted an unassisted
goal in the 55th minute.
Norwich outshot Rivier 32-6, but the Raiders held a 4-3 edge in
corner kicks.
Norwich returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 22, when the Cadets
travel to Middlebury, Vt., to take on the Middlebury College
Panthers at 3 p.m.
