NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Jake Yaris scored a goal, and
Jake Pagragan made three saves as the Norwich men's soccer team
shut out visiting Albertus Magnus, 2-0, in a GNAC match Saturday
afternoon at Howard Field. The Cadets, who have now won six
consecutive matches, improve their record to 7-1-0 (3-0-0 GNAC).
Norwich has recorded three consecutive shutouts, and is
outscoring its opponents, 24-4, during its impressive six-game win
streak.
NU opened the scoring in the 21st minute as the Cadets benefited
from an 'own goal' as an Albertus Magnus player inadvertently
headed the ball into the Falcons' net.
Yaris added an insurance marker in the 44th minute, as the
sophomore headed in a Chris Rivet corner kick to make it 2-0
Norwich.
Pagragan was not tested in the first half, but turned away three
shots in the second stanza.
Norwich outshot Albertus Magnus, 28-8, and the Cadets held a 7-3
edge in corner kicks.
Norwich will continue its three-match homestand on Tuesday,
Sept. 25, when the Cadets welcome Green Mountain to Howard Field
for a 4 p.m. match.
