NU Wins Sixth Straight Game; Defeats Albertus Magnus, 2-0

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Jake Yaris scored a goal, and Jake Pagragan made three saves as the Norwich men's soccer team shut out visiting Albertus Magnus, 2-0, in a GNAC match Saturday afternoon at Howard Field. The Cadets, who have now won six consecutive matches, improve their record to 7-1-0 (3-0-0 GNAC).

Norwich has recorded three consecutive shutouts, and is outscoring its opponents, 24-4, during its impressive six-game win streak.

NU opened the scoring in the 21st minute as the Cadets benefited from an 'own goal' as an Albertus Magnus player inadvertently headed the ball into the Falcons' net.

Yaris added an insurance marker in the 44th minute, as the sophomore headed in a Chris Rivet corner kick to make it 2-0 Norwich.

Pagragan was not tested in the first half, but turned away three shots in the second stanza.

Norwich outshot Albertus Magnus, 28-8, and the Cadets held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.

Norwich will continue its three-match homestand on Tuesday, Sept. 25, when the Cadets welcome Green Mountain to Howard Field for a 4 p.m. match.
