NEW LONDON, N.H. - Jerrold Williams scored a game-high 25 points and Jamel Bedford added 20 points and a game-high 17 rebounds as the Norwich men's basketball team outscored Colby-Sawyer 49-25 in the second half en route to a 71-61 come-from-behind victory on Thursday evening at Coffin Field House.

Norwich (2-1) trailed 36-22 at halftime, but the Cadets opened the second stanza with a 26-9 to seize control of the game. Williams and Bedford combined to score 29 of NU's 45 second half points as the Cadets came storming back from a 17-point first half deficit.

After shooting just 26.9 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, the Cadets shot a blistering 58.6 percent from the field in the second stanza.

Williams, who has starred on the hardwood for Norwich since entering the school four years ago, scored his 1,000th career point. The senior has now recorded 1,009 points for his career.

Derrick Montiero and Mike Filipek each chipped in eight points apiece, while Tim Fico added seven points.

Norwich jumped out to an early 8-2 lead at the 15:44 mark, but a 24-3 spurt by Colby-Sawyer (2-2) gave the Chargers a comfortable 26-11 edge with 5:09 to play before halftime. CSC opened up its largest lead of the contest at 36-19 at the 1:16 mark, but Norwich scored the half's final three points to trim the Chargers' lead to 36-22 at the half.

The Cadets continued their uprising in the second half as they opened the stanza on a 26-9 run to take a 48-45 lead with 12:40 left in the game. Williams and Bedford combined for 14 points during the surge, which gave NU its first lead since early in the opening half.

Norwich held Colby-Sawyer at bay for the remainder of the contest, and the Cadets never relinquished the lead.

The Cadets open their 2007 home slate this weekend (Dec. 1-2), when they host the 2007 Hockenbury Tournament at Norwich University's Andrews Hall. NU will face Johnson State on Saturday at 6 p.m., before facing either Nichols College or Lyndon State on Sunday at either 1 or 3 p.m.
