Agoos is in his second season as the lead assistant coach with the Norwich University men's soccer program in 2019. 

Agoos was a three-time NCAA Division I men's soccer national champion at the University of Virginia, winning titles in 1989, 1991 and 1992. He played at nearly every professional level in the United States from 1993-2000 before starting his coaching career at the University of California-Berkeley. He served as an assistant for the Golden Bears for seven years before getting his first head coaching gig with Division II Seattle University. 

At Seattle, he led the program to an NCAA Division II Elite 8 appearance, as well as reaching the No. 5 national ranking in 2007 on top of being selected to its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance. 

Agoos has also served as a United States National Team Scout and a professional match evaluator for Major League Soccer. 

From August 2013 to June 2015, he served as the Portland Timbers U-18 Youth Academy coach. 

Most recently, Agoos coached the Crossfire Premier 2004 Boys United States Soccer Development Academy team for a year. The squad went 28-6-4 over the course of the season and was the only team undefeated in the state of Washington in the USSDA league.
