Mike Kemp enters his second season as the Quarterbacks Coach for the Norwich University football program in 2017. He joins the Cadets from York-Pavilion High School in New York State where he served as the Head Coach.
Kemp brings over 40 years of coaching experience to the staff. His career includes stops at Springfield, St. Lawrence, Connecticut, Penn, SUNY Cortland, Plymouth State, Utica and SUNY Brockport. Across his various stops, Kemp has experience as an offensive, defensive and special teams coordinator.
As a collegiate head coach, Kemp posted a 19-12 record as leader of the Plymouth State University football program from 1996 to 1998. Making two ECAC postseason appearances (1997, 1998), Kemp helped the Panthers extend its streak as the winningest NCAA Division III program in the nation in terms of winning percentage.
Kemp departed Plymouth State following the 1998 football season to begin a brand-new program at Utica College in upstate New York. He led the program to its first winning season (6-4) in 2005 after debuting in 2002, notching the team's first-ever victory that season.
Earning his bachelor's degree in Pre-Med from the University of Notre Dame in 1975, Kemp was a three-year starter and a team captain of the wrestling program. He played football as a walk-on defensive back and would later earn his master's degree at Springfield.
On Oct. 13, 2017, Kemp was inducted as an athlete/coach into the Brockport High School Athletic Wall of Honor. He graduated from BHS in 1970.
Kemp and his wife, Katharine, are from Brockport, N.Y. They have two children, Stephanie and Sean.
