Bobby Johnson enters his first season as the assistant head coach for offense, offensive coordinator, and offensive line coach for the football team in 2024.
Johnson's coaching career is distinguished by his roles across various institutions, demonstrating his ability to elevate players and teams to new heights. Before joining Norwich, he served as the Run Game Coordinator at Albion College in 2023, where his expertise in offense was instrumental in improving the team's performance.
His tenure at the University of New England (UNE) from 2021-22 was particularly noteworthy. During his time at UNE, Johnson's leadership saw the coaching of the CCC Offensive Line of the Year in 2022 and a D3Football.com All-Region Tackle the same year. Under his guidance, four linemen earned All-CCC honors over two seasons, underscoring his ability to develop exceptional talent in the offensive line.
In 2020, Johnson held the position of Assistant Offensive Line Coach / Offensive Assistant at the University of Albany, where he further honed his coaching skills and contributed to the team's offensive strategies.
From 2018 to 2020, Johnson was RPI's Director of Football Operations, Run Game Coordinator, and Offensive Line Coach. His tenure at RPI was marked by significant achievements, including the team making the NCAA Elite 8 in 2018. Johnson coached an AP/AFCA All-American Tackle that year, as well as two D3Football.com All-Region linemen and six All-Liberty League linemen, showcasing his outstanding coaching abilities and his impact on player development.
Johnson's academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in communications, with a concentration in Broadcast Media, from Worcester State, earned in 2012. He went on to earn a master’s degree in physical education from Plymouth State in 2014. This combination of practical experience and academic foundation has equipped Johnson with a unique perspective on coaching, player development, and team management.
