The Norwich Men's Ice Hockey team returns to Kreitzberg Arena this weekend for a marquee home slate, featuring Military Appreciation Night on Friday and a combined Senior Day and Whiteout on Saturday in their final regular-season homestand.
Friday, Feb. 6 – Military Appreciation Night vs. Southern Maine
Norwich will open the weekend on Friday, Feb. 6, hosting the University of Southern Maine Men's Ice Hockey for Military Appreciation Night.
As part of the evening's festivities, BG William McCollough, VSM, the current Commandant of Cadets and Vice President for Student Affairs, will serve as the honorary puck drop guest. The night will recognize the service and commitment of military members and veterans throughout the Norwich community.
Saturday, Feb. 7 – Senior Day & Whiteout vs. No. 9 Babson
Saturday's matchup against ninth-ranked Babson will feature a pair of special celebrations.
Before puck drop, the Cadets will honor their senior class during Senior Day, recognizing
Devon Thibodeau, Matt Harvey, Nick Cordeiro, Owen Hains, Adam Shuchart, and team manager
Riley Ward for their contributions to the program.
Saturday will also serve as the Cadets' Whiteout, made possible through the generous support of Cap World, founded and owned by Charley Holden '67. Cap World has donated 1,200 white t-shirts for fans in attendance, helping transform Kreitzberg Arena into a sea of white.
Holden has been a longtime supporter of Norwich, with several alumni having worked for Cap World over the years.
"We are so thankful to Cap World for helping support a whiteout," said Head Coach
Dominick Dawes '04. "Norwich hockey is a huge part of the Central Vermont community in the winter, and this is a great way to say thank you to the best fanbase in college hockey."
Senior forward
Nick Cordeiro emphasized the significance of Saturday's atmosphere.
"Senior Day is something you think about from the moment you step on campus," Cordeiro said. "To be able to play your final regulation home game in front of our crowd at Kreitzberg, with that kind of noise and support, would mean the world. Seeing friends, classmates, and fans show up for us is incredibly motivating, pushing us to be the best we can be, and it's something we'll remember long after our time here at Norwich. Adding a whiteout takes the experience to a whole new level."
