NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Four different Cadets reached double figures as the Norwich University women's basketball team overcame a hot-shooting first half by Colby-Sawyer College to earn a come-from-behind 66-50 victory in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Tuesday night inside Andrews Hall.

Cassidy Kittredge (Waterford, Vt.) led the scoring effort with 21 points on 9-15 shooting, pacing a well-balanced attack that featured Maggi Ellsworth (West Topsham, Vt.) with a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double and four steals.  Jessica Zimmerman (Turner, Maine) and Jade Garceau (Fairfield, Vt.) added 10 points apiece, each knocking down a triple as part of the Cadets' offensive surge.

Early momentum favored the Chargers, who buried two shots from beyond the arc en route to a 7-2 lead within the first five minutes.  Norwich quickly responded with a 7-0 run, highlighted by back-to-back buckets from Ellsworth and a Garceau layup to take the lead.  After several empty possessions from both sides, Colby-Sawyer edged back ahead to hold a 12-11 advantage after one.

The second quarter saw the two teams trade leads 10 different times over a six-minute span.  A putback from Kittredge tied the game at 27-all with 3:43 to go, but Colby-Sawyer rattled off a 9-1 run to close the half, converting an and-one in the final seconds to carry a 36-29 edge into the break.

The Chargers pushed their lead to nine on the opening possession of the third, but Kiley O'Brien (Kingston, Mass.) answered with a layup.  After a brief scoring lull, Norwich strung together key baskets to chip away at the deficit.  Buckets by Kittredge and Zimmerman, followed by an Ellsworth jumper, trimmed the margin to 45-44.  A Colby-Sawyer free throw briefly pushed the lead back to two, but Zimmerman converted a three-point play to give the Cadets the lead.  A defensive strip by Ellsworth set up a fast-break layup from Kittredge off a Lily Briggs (Fair Haven, Vt.) assist, sending Norwich into the fourth with a 49-46 lead.

From there, the Cadets took full control.  Norwich outscored Colby-Sawyer, 17-4, in the fourth quarter, including a game-ending 11-0 run over the final 4:46.  The defense held the Chargers scoreless down the stretch, while the offense executed with precision to seal the comeback.

The Cadets outscored the Chargers, 40-20, in the paint, and held a 43-34 rebounding edge.  Norwich shot 43.1% from the floor, while holding Colby-Sawyer to 31.1% overall and just 1-19 from three-point range in the second half, after allowing seven triples before halftime.

With five games remaining in the regular season, Norwich now hits the road for back-to-back GNAC matchups, beginning with a 1:00 p.m. trip to Mitchell College on Saturday, Feb. 7.  The Cadets then travel to New England College on Wednesday, Feb. 11, for a rematch of this year's Ed Hockenbury Classic Championship.
