PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Norwich men's ice hockey junior
Sami Molu (Toronto, Ont.) was named Little East Conference (LEC) Goalie of the Week for the week ending Feb. 1, marking his second weekly honor of the season.
Molu posted a 1-0-1 record in net on the week, backstopping the Cadets to five conference standings points. He turned aside 22 shots in 65 minutes of action against UMass Boston before stopping all three shootout attempts to secure the extra point.
The junior netminder followed with a 14-save performance in Saturday's victory over UMass Dartmouth, finishing the week with 36 total saves and a 1.90 goals-against average.
On the season, Molu ranks top five in the LEC in both goals-against average (2.45) and save percentage (.916). The honor is his second LEC Goalie of the Week award of the year, having previously earned the recognition on Nov. 10.
Molu and the Cadets will look to continue their strong play as Norwich closes out its home schedule with pivotal matchups against Southern Maine and No. 9 Babson on Feb. 6 and 7.
