Women's Swimming & Diving: Laitala, Allen earn top weekly GNAC honors, Kelliher named to Honor Roll

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Norwich University women's swimming & diving team continued its run of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) recognition on Monday afternoon, as senior Reilly Laitala (Sterling, Mass.) earned GNAC Diver of the Week honors for the sixth time this season, freshman Delaney Allen (Gibsonia, Pa.) was named Rookie of the Week for the fourth time, and junior Alannah Kelliher (Middleboro, Mass.) landed on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll for the first time this year.

Laitala swept both diving boards on Senior Day to lead a dominant performance on the 1-meter.  The senior standout opened with a commanding win in the six-optional round, posting a 234.80 to clear the field by over 70 points.  She followed with a 164.80 score in the five-voluntary round to complete her latest multi-board sweep, marking her 17th career GNAC weekly honor and helping the Cadets roll to a 190-70 win over Plymouth State.

Allen added another chapter to her standout freshman campaign, notching three individual victories and a relay win across sprint, mid-distance, and IM events.  She took first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.38), 50-yard butterfly (28.20), and 100-yard individual medley (1:06.33), while also handling the breaststroke leg on Norwich's winning 400-yard medley relay team (4:31.85).  Her all-around effort marked one of the most versatile performances of the season.

Kelliher added a critical spark in the sprint events, sprinting to victory in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.69.  She also anchored the winning 400-medley relay and swam third on the Cadets' victorious 200-yard freestyle relay, helping Norwich claim both opening and closing events on the day.

With Monday's announcement, Norwich has now received GNAC weekly recognition in seven of the last 10 weeks this season, with seven different Cadets earning awards, including Laitala, Allen, Kelliher, Ava LePage (Palmyra, Maine), Burgan Danger (Wadsworth, Ohio), Anna Gosselin (Lisbon, Conn.), and Brandy Lewis (Strafford, Vt.).

The Cadets, now 4-2 in dual meets, will conclude the regular season this Saturday, Jan. 24, on the road at Eastern Connecticut State University at 12:00 p.m.  Norwich will then turn its attention to the 2026 GNAC Championships, hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), where the Cadets will aim to defend their three-time conference crown.
