WILLIMANTIC, Conn. - The Norwich University women's swimming & diving team closed out the 2025-26 regular season on Saturday afternoon with a road setback at Eastern Connecticut State University, falling to the Warriors by a 170-92 margin at the Sports Center Pool.
Despite the loss, the Cadets turned in a series of standout performances across the 14-event slate, claiming four event victories and showcasing depth in both freestyle and relay events ahead of next week's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships.
Junior distance standout
Anna Gosselin (Lisbon, Conn.) powered the Cadets with a pair of dominant victories, winning the 1000-yard freestyle in 12:16.56 before later cruising to a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:56.53. Gosselin was only one of two competitors to break the 6-minute mark in the 500, and she led wire-to-wire in both events.
Delaney Allen (Gibsonia, Pa.) notched Norwich's third individual win of the afternoon in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking a 2:06.74 to finish over two seconds clear of the field. Allen also earned top-three finishes in both the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard breaststroke, continuing her strong late-season form.
The Cadets capped the meet with an impressive win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of
Deanna Parot (San Diego, Calif.),
Maria Piekarczyk (Dudley, Mass.),
Alannah Kelliher (Middleboro, Mass.), and Allen surged to first in 1:48.59. Norwich's last two legs surged ahead to secure the victory by just over half a second.
Additional top-three efforts included Kelliher's third-place finishes in both the 50-yard backstroke (32.16) and 50-yard freestyle (25.93),
Vivian Buntin's (Middlebury, Conn.) third-place showing in the 50-yard breaststroke, Piekarczyk's third in the 50-yard butterfly (30.12),
Burgan Danger's (Wadsworth, Ohio) third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:11.38), and
Katelyn Daly (Pensacola, Fla.) taking fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.52).
The Cadets opened the afternoon with a third-place swim in the 200-yard medley relay, with Danger, Buntin, Piekarczyk, and Kelliher combining for a time of 2:03.54.
