Men's Swimming & Diving: Cadets sweep events in dominant road win over Keene State

KEENE, N.H. - The Norwich University men's swimming & diving team opened the 2026 calendar year in dominant fashion, sweeping every event they entered en route to a commanding 194.5-82.5 victory over Keene State College on Saturday afternoon at Spaulding Pool.

The Cadets controlled the meet from start to finish, claiming first-place finishes in all 14 events they contested, while showcasing impressive depth across the board in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, individual medley, and both relays.

Norwich set the tone with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay, as the quartet of Adrian Riendeau (Ridgecrest, Calif.), Kristian Adlianitski (Cheshire, Conn.), Andrew Clark (Acworth, Ga.), and Drew Bylow (Monroe, Mich.) touched first in 1:43.08.  The Cadets followed that up with a decisive distance performance, as John Connor Hallstrom (Bethany, Conn.) claimed the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:33.06.

Riendeau and Bylow highlighted the mid-distance and backstroke races, with Riendeau taking the 200-yard freestyle in 1:55.29, while Bylow swept both the 100-yard (55.29) and 200-yard backstroke (2:02.66) events.

Adlianitski delivered a strong all-around effort, capturing the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:04.59 and later returning to win the 100-yard freestyle in 50.89.  Max Ansell (Red Bank, N.J.) added to the Cadets' breaststroke dominance with a win in the 200-yard event, touching in 2:29.04.

Clark notched two individual wins, sweeping the butterfly events with times of 2:03.86 in the 200-yard and 55.19 in the 100-yard.  Gabe Wettig (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) posted a quick spring victory in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in at 23.56.

Alex Sulyma (Warwick, R.I.) claimed the 500-yard freestyle in 5:11.37, while Bylow returned for a third event win in the 200-yard individual medley, posting a 2:05.62 to cap an outstanding afternoon.

Norwich closed the meet in style, with Adlianitski, Ansell, Wettig, and Riendeau combining to win the 400-yard freestyle relay.

LEADERS: With the win, the Cadets improve to 4-1 in dual meets and will return to Goodyear Pool for the first time in 2026 next Saturday, Jan. 17, hosting Plymouth Sttae University for Senior Day at 12:00 p.m.  Norwich will then travel to Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday, Jan. 24, to close out the regular season.
