NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Twelve student-athletes from the Norwich University women's rugby program have been named Scholastic All-Americans by National Collegiate Rugby (NCR), recognizing their achievements in the classroom and on the pitch during the 2024-25 academic year.

Joey Abrantes, Vivian Buntin, Lillie Ells, Shenale Hadunnetthi Rannuluge, Shannon Hobbs, Rebecca Klements, Lilian Lu, Kiley O'Brien, Siobhan O'Donnell, Isabelle Orta, Sophia Taylor, and Amanda Uggalla earned the honor after maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher while competing in at least 50 percent of either the 15s or 7s A-side matches throughout the season.

The recognition highlights the holistic success of collegiate rugby players and celebrates the discipline, integrity, and academic commitment that define the student-athlete experience within NCR.  Across the country, 1,284 student-athletes representing 220 teams were recognized this year, marking a 21% increase from last year's total.

Several of Norwich's honorees were key contributors during the Cadets' memorable 2025 spring 7s campaign, which included the program's first appearance at the Collegiate Rugby Championship (CRC) since 2015.  The team capped its season with a dramatic 22-15 win over Adrian College at the Maryland SoccerPlex, finishing strong after a weekend that saw the Cadets take on top-seeded American International College, Bowdoin, and St. Bonaventure.

Their collective performances helped Norwich close the 7s season with a 9-6-1 record and a Providence 7s Tournament championship.

The Scholastic All-American distinction underscores the continued growth and strength of the Norwich women's rugby program, which remains committed to fostering excellence both on and off the pitch.

Northeastern University led all women's programs with 22 recipients, followed by the University of Iowa with 16, and Carleton College, Colby College, and Texas A&M, each with 14.
