WINTHROP, Mass.- After a dominant performance in the season opener against Vermont State Lyndon, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) named
Ryan Miller (Westhampton, N.Y.) their Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 2.
In the season opener, Miller took the mound for the first time since the end of the 2023 season and dominated the Hornets. He only permitted three baserunners with two hits and a walk in six scoreless innings while striking out nine, tossing 58 strikes on his 87 pitches. The two hits allowed and one walk both tie a career-best while being one short of his career high in strikeouts. Miller also made noise with his bat this week, going two for five with three RBI, a double, and a walk in the Alvernia twin bill, and adding another RBI in the tenth inning of game two against Lyndon.
Also making an impact at the plate was first baseman
Brock Carpenter (East Berlin, Pa.) who was named to the weekly honor roll. Carpenter was a consistent force at the plate in all four contests putting together a slash line of .444/.615/.444, in addition to drawing three walks and coming across the plate four times. His week was highlighted by game two of the Lyndon twin bill where he went two for three with two free passes and an RBI.Â
Miller and the Cadets will have three more gamedays in the Sunshine State before returning north. They will face Elizabethtown in a twin bill on March 4, before a singular game against Wilkes on the sixth before finishing the trip with a doubleheader with Capital on the seventh.
