READING, Mass. — The Norwich Rifle team turned in another solid performance on Saturday, going head-to-head with nationally ranked No. 9 Ohio State in a neutral-site match at Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) home range. The Cadets came up short on the scoreboard, but their performance helped propel them to No. 20 in the latest NCAA Rifle rankings, climbing five spots from the previous week.
It was a productive outing across the board for Norwich, highlighted by several individual milestones and steady team progress.
Alma Negrete (Fontana, Calif.) posted a career-best 553 in air rifle, improving by 15 points over her previous personal record.
Katie Gillooly (Woodbridge, Va.) and
Meghan Smith (Georgetown, Texas) continued their consistent starts to the 2025–26 campaign, both turning in strong two-gun totals to anchor the Cadets' lineup. Meanwhile,
Aiden Burris (Marietta, Ga.) flashed his 2023–24 form, when he was the No. 2 smallbore shooter in the MAC, leading Norwich with the team's high score in air rifle.
Sage Kontny (Clancy, Mont.) also impressed, pacing the Cadets in air rifle while competing in both disciplines for the first time in her collegiate career. Kontny led the team in prone during smallbore with an outstanding 194 out of 200, just her second career match shooting the event.

The Cadets will return to their home range for their next competition against John Jay on Nov. 15.
