Football: Cadets Conclude Season Against MIT, as Primich Cements Program Record

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Norwich Football team rounded out its 2025 campaign under the Friday night lights when they faced Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to round out New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play.

The Engineers struck early and often, getting a short field after a Norwich punt on their first set of downs and crossing the goal line two plays later. MIT added two more scores by the end of the first quarter to widen the gap and crossed the goal line twice more before halftime.

In the second half, the Cadets began moving the ball as Conor McFarland (Manchester, N.H.) found a connection with Ben Weers (Hebron, Conn.) for several chunk plays, as well as a big rush by Will Patenaude (Goffstown, N.H.).

In the fourth quarter, Henri Bourque (Claremont, N.H.) had several key rushes on Norwich's first scoring drive of the night. After benefiting from a pass interference call on a fourth down inside the red zone, Bourque punched the ball across the goal line for the Cadets' first score.

On their next drive, Norwich converted again. They took possession on their own 41-yard line. After several short rushes got them back into the red zone, McFarland hooked up with Fionn Parker-Cummings (Bangor, Maine) on a 14-yard catch and run for another touchdown as time expired.

Bourque finished the day averaging 5.9 yards per carry. Defensively, Ben Primich (Yardley, Pa.) led the way with 13 total tackles and combined on a sack with Austin McCormick (North Grafton, Mass.). Jack Dailey (Weymouth, Mass.) finished second with nine total tackles, while Devin DeJesus (Chelmsford, Mass.), Elijah Torres (Bronx, N.Y.), and Michael Macaione (Gilmanton Iron Works, N.H.) each added a tackle for loss.

It was a record-setting season for the reigning NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week in Primich, who shattered the program record for assisted tackles in a season, finishing with 77.
