PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Little East Conference (LEC) named two members of the Norwich Men's Ice Hockey team as honorees for their weekly awards for the week ending Nov. 9 by honoring junior winger
Colin Elliott (Peterborough, Ont.) as their Player of the Week, and junior goaltender
Sami Molu (Toronto, Ont.) as their Goalie of the Week.
Elliott drove the Cadet offense in their Friday night win over Plymouth State. His power play goal in the final minute of the first period opened the scoring and triggered the Darn Tough Sock Toss. He added a second goal late in the second period off a feed from
Cooper Bertrand (Caledon, Ont.) that proved to be the game-winner, to go along with an assist in the third period to cap a three-point night.
While Elliott drove the offense up front, Molu held the fort between the pipes in both starts. He stopped 40 Panther shots on Friday night, and followed that with a 27-save shutout of New England College Saturday afternoon. In total, Molu accumulated 67 saves on 69 shots faced, netting a 1.00 goals-against average and a .971 save percentage.
Elliott and Molu will look to continue their strong starts when Norwich travels to Babson on Nov. 14 at 7:00 p.m., followed by a trip to Southern Maine on Nov. 15 at 4:00 p.m.
