WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.- The Norwich Men's Wrestling team competed in their first event of the 2025 calendar year when they took part in the Williams Open on Saturday where seven Cadets finished in the top four.

Earning first place finishes were Jabari Pinkney (Jessup, Md.) at 125-pounds and Mason Sprinkel (Bel Air, Md.) at 285-pounds. After a first-round bye, Pinkney won his quarterfinal matchup by technical fall before a decision victory in the semifinals before defeating teammate Robby Lyons (Milford, Mass.) by decision in the finals. Lyons earned a berth in the championship bout by way of a pin and medical forfeit. Meanwhile, Sprinkel recorded four consecutive victories by fall on his way to first place.

Joining Lyons on the silver medal stand was Tyler Russ (Freehold, N.J.) whose wins in the 157-pound bracket included two major decisions and a tech fall. Cooper Galvin (Orlando, Fla.) recorded three pins and a technical fall en route to a third-place finish at 184 pounds.

Rounding out the top finishers were Simon Taraska (Willowick, Ohio) and Rory Nolan (Wadsworth, Ohio), both of whom placed fourth. Taraska's wins came by decision and technical fall at 174 while Nolan recorded three pins and a decision at 285.

Up next, the Cadets will travel down to the United States Merchant Marine Academy where they will compete in a quad match including the hosts, New York University and Hunter College on Jan. 11.
