PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Norwich University women's volleyball team saw action on the court this evening, battling Plattsburgh State in a non-conference loss on Tuesday, falling to the Cardinals, 3-0 (15-25, 19-25, 20-25), at Memorial Hall Gymnasium.
The Cardinals got off to a hot start in the first set before the Cadets rallied to bring themselves to within five. Norwich continued the momentum into the second frame, exchanging leads and ties with Plattsburgh State before the Cardinals pulled away in the closing sequences.
Norwich caught an early lead in the third set, but Plattsburgh State resumed its roll. The Cadets rallied behind four-straight points to bring a 21-14 hole down to four and again at match point, but a kill by the Cardinals sealed the deal.
Bella Belldina Ray (Martinsburg, W.Va.) again led the team in kills, tallying nine kills followed by four kills by
Giovanna Fruci (Wrentham, Mass.).Â
Autumn Parkhurst (Parish, N.Y.) handed out seven assists, while
Cameryn Jenkins (Monroe, Mich.) recorded nine digs.
The Cadets will return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Friday as part of Homecoming Weekend, hosting the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Friday, Sept. 20, at 6:00 p.m.
