NORTHFIELD, Vt.- For the second consecutive season, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) honored the Norwich University Baseball team with the Team Academic Excellence Award.

Norwich is one of 470 collegiate programs that accumulated a cumulative GPA above 3.0 during the entire 2023-24 academic year. This year, the team held a 3.24 GPA for the year, which eclipses last year's cumulative GPA of 3.14.

In the classroom, John Luchsinger (Durham, N.H.) earned Norwich Male Scholar Athlete of the Year. Alongside Luchsinger, Matt Ingraffia (Lake Grove, N.Y.), Geffen Franus (Leesburg, Va.), and Brock Carpenter (East Berlin, Pa.) earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District distinction for their performance both in the classroom and on the diamond.

The strong performance in the classroom comes on the heels of a historic run in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament, which saw the Cadets earn their first postseason victory in over two decades.
