SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Over the weekend, the Norwich Wrestling team rounded out the dual portion of their schedule with two meets in Springfield.
On Friday, the weekend began with a dual against Springfield College. Out of the gate, the Pride took the first six bouts opening a 30-0 lead. The Cadets got on the board late with a major decision for
Simon Taraska (Willowick, Ohio) which was followed by back-to-back pins for
Thoren Berg (Holliston, Mass.) and
Mason Sprinkel (Bel Air, Md.) to make 30-16 the final score.
It was a quick turnaround for Norwich, as Saturday morning, they travelled across town to Western New England. It was a back-and-forth affair throughout with Taraska and
Kyle Merritt (Hope Valley, R.I.) getting the Cadets on the board early. Halfway through, Norwich jumped ahead with another victory by fall for Sprinkel, along with a
Jabari Pinkney (Jessup, Md.) major decision, and a
Carver Moyer (Easton, Pa.) decision. However, the Bears would take the last two bouts and prevail 28-22.
Up next, Norwich will compete in the NCAA Northeast Regionals on March 2, hosted by WPI.
