Wrestling: Four Cadets Finish in Top Six at RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y.- In their final competition of 2024, the Norwich Wrestling team competed in the RIT Invitational hosted by the Rochester Institute of Technology where several competitors placed.

The best finish was for Mason Sprinkel (Bel Air, Md.) who scored pins in three of his four bouts in the 285-pound bracket, earning a spot in the championship matchup before earning a second-place finish. Two Cadets earned fifth place finishes, first was Jabari Pinkney (Jessup, Md.) by scoring four wins by decision at 125-pounds. The second wrestler, Gannon White (Rincon, Ga.), also took victories by decision as well as major decision at 149-pounds.

The fourth Norwich competitor to place was Simon Taraska (Willowick, Ohio) by scoring three victories including a major decision en route to sixth place at 184-pounds. Several Cadets earned wins but did not place, including Jonathan Neypes (Columbia, Md.) at 165-pounds earning a pins and a tech fall. Notching two decisions and two tech fall at 157-pounds was Tyler Russ (Freehold, N.J.) and Robby Lyons (Milford, Mass.) scored two victories by fall.

The Cadets will return to action Jan. 4 when they compete in the Williams Open.
