CANTON, Mass.- The Norwich Men's Ice Hockey team opened the 2024-25 campaign Saturday afternoon with a trip down to face eighth ranked Curry.
A minute and a half in, after the Colonels held the early advantage territorially, the two teams would skate four aside after coincidental minors. Once the penalties were completed, Curry resumed the attack forcing
Sami Molu (Toronto, On.) to come up with numerous big saves. As the period progressed, the Cadets started to push the attack but were kept off the scoreboard. Sensing the urgency, the Cadets began to press in the third but were repeatedly turned away by Curry goaltender Shane Soderwall. Despite the effort to close the gap, Soderwall would shut the door and seal the shutout. By the end, Molu totaled 40 saves, while
Cooper Bertrand (Caledon, On.) tallied six shots from the blueline while
Johnny Johnson (Naperville, Ill.) and
Cole Fagan (North Andover, Mass.) had three shots each and
Clark Kerner (Kansas City, Kan.) winning 13 of 16 faceoffs.
