NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Eight years after capping off one of the most historic careers in Norwich athletics history,
Aliah Curry '15 was formally inducted into the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Hall of Fame in a Thursday night ceremony at the Hilton Garden Inn Boston Logan Airport in East Boston, Mass. last week.
The all-time leading scorer in GNAC women's basketball history, Curry finished with 2,267 career points, started 105 out of 106 possible games in her career, was a four-time GNAC All-Conference selection, two-time GNAC All-Tournament selection, and finished her career with a scoring average of 21.39 points.
Curry earned induction into the Hall of Fame alongside nine other honorees, becoming just the second Cadet to receive such a distinction. Josh McElroy '03 of the men's soccer program was inducted in 2019.
Curry's induction speech included thanks and gratitude to her teammates, coaches, and family, as well as appreciation for her old stomping grounds and the opportunities Norwich has presented, in addition to excitement for what the future entails.
The Windsor native was only a sophomore when she broke into the 1,000 point club, becoming the first sophomore to accomplish that feat in conference history. She became Norwich's all-time leading scorer midway through her junior season and graduated as the 13th all-time leading scorer in NCAA Div. III women's basketball history.
Her stellar senior season landed her a spot on the New England Women's Basketball Association All-Region Second Team, D3hoops.com 2015 All-Northeast Region Fourth Team, Eastern College Athletic Conference New England Basketball Second Team, and was honored with a Concurrent Resolution of the House of Representatives of the State of Vermont.
Post-career, Curry was inducted into the Berkshire County (Mass.) Girls' Basketball Hall of Fame and New England Basketball Hall of Fame. In the classroom, she holds a doctorate degree in physical therapy from American International College. Currently, she is the owner and operator of Oasis Physical Therapy in Stratford, Conn.
Curry became the fifth women's basketball inductee in the GNAC Hall of Fame, joining longtime Emmanuel College Head Coach Andy Yosinoff, Emerson College's Ellen Boss, Stacy Manfredi of the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), and Emmanuel's Iman (Davis) Barbosa.
