WINTHROP, Mass.- On Monday afternoon, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced their weekly honors. This week, the conference named junior
Matt Ingraffia (Lake Grove, N.Y.) the Pitcher of the Week.
Ingraffia's lone outing of the week came on April 28 against Anna Maria, where he went toe-to-toe with last week's Pitcher of the Week, Nick Choate, who was coming off throwing a no-hitter. In this pitcher's duel, Ingraffia emerged the victor by throwing a complete game shutout, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out nine batters.
This performance against the Amcats followed another impressive performance against Rivier the week before where Ingraffia struck out 13 Raider hitters in seven innings, reaching the 100 career strikeout milestone. In those fourteen combined innings, Ingraffia allowed two runs, ten hits and five walks while striking out twenty-two batters. His junior season concludes with him sitting fifth in the GNAC in earned run average (2.93).
