Men's Lacrosse: Goals come fast and furious in win over Falcons

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Mitchell McKay (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Tyler Seidel (Centreville, Md.) spearheaded a high-octane offensive performance in a 17-10 win for the Norwich University men's lacrosse team over Albertus Magnus College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) battle on Sabine Field on Saturday afternoon.

McKay set a career-high in points, drilling in four goals to go with two helpers to finish with six points.  Seidel, meanwhile, finished with one less point, logging four goals and one assist.  Hunter Dixson (Valley Falls, N.Y.) added two goals, while Aaron Broom (Rye, N.H.), Luke Pineo (Cotuit, Mass.), Thomas Muraski (Keller, Texas), Matt Meehan (Norfolk, Mass.), Christian Masonius (Belmar, N.J.), Chris Smith (Dawsonville, Ga.), and Alex Johnston (Franklin, Tenn.) rounded out the team effort with a goal coming from each.

Muraski and Meehan opened up the foray with no hesitation, with the former scoring off the opening face-off before Meehan added a second Cadet goal in less than a minute of play.  Matthew Hutchings gave Norwich some breathing room, but it was short lived as the Cadets rallied for 11-straight goals over the first and second quarters.

Goals from Seidel bookended the onslaught, with Albertus Magnus finally regaining some momentum on another Hutchings goal in the second frame.  Norwich had an answer for each of the Falcons' 2-0 runs, including for the third stanza with tallies from Dixon and Smith.

The lone success Albertus Magnus would enjoy came in the fourth quarter, as the Falcons ripped off five-straight goals to whittle Norwich's dominant lead down to seven.

The Cadets earned 43 ground balls, including 18 in the first quarter, while also logging 40 shots.  Thomas Kelliher (Shrewsbury, Mass.) received the win in between the pipes behind nine saves in 45 minutes.

Norwich continues the home-stand on Tuesday with a 4:00 p.m. bout against Lasell University on Sabine Field.
