WESTON, Mass. - Tyler Seidel (Centreville, Md.) matched his career-high in goals, the Cadet offense exploded with nine players logging goals, and the Norwich University men's lacrosse team earned their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory of the season, coasting past Regis College, 17-6, at Regis Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Seidel piloted the offense behind five goals, including a stretch of three in a row between the second and third quarters.Â
Coley Bagwell (York, Pa.) led Norwich in points, drilling four goals while handing out two assists.Â
Thomas Muraski (Keller, Texas) added a pair off of face-offs, while
Callum Jones (Burlington, Ont.),
Matt Meehan (Norfolk, Mass.),
Jaxon Bampfield (Kennesaw, Ga.),
Christian Masonius (Belmar, N.J.),
Alex Johnston (Franklin, Tenn.), and
Mitchell McKay (Lynnfield, Mass.) rounded out the offensive effort with goals.
Norwich found itself down early after the Pride struck first on a man-up score from Nate Arsenault just over three minutes in, but Bagwell answered just 46 seconds later, kick-starting a 13-0 Cadet run. Seidel and two more from Bagwell ended the first quarter, before Bampfield, Jones, Meehan, and Seidel combined for four goals in the second quarter.
The romp continued into the third quarter, as Seidel added the second and third goals of his three-straight endeavor. Masonius, McKay, and Seidel would log three more, allowing Norwich to build a 13-1 advantage before Anthony Marsella finally stopped the bleeding with a Regis goal.
Bagwell and Muraski found the back of the net to grant the Cadets their largest lead, 15-2, which would be gradually whittled down by four-straight from the Pride. Norwich wasted no time in pushing the advantage back to double-digits, as Johnston and Muraski scored in a seven-second span to solidify the 17-6 win.
Norwich dominated statistically, earning 63 shots, forcing 31 Regis turnovers, scooping up 52 ground balls, and winning 16 face offs.Â
Luke Boland (Tolland, Conn.) earned the win in the crease, recording 10 saves.
Marsella led the Pride with two goals and an assist.
The Cadets will look to keep their winning ways alive on Tuesday, Apr. 4, when they travel to Anna Maria College for a 6:00 p.m. GNAC clash in Paxton, Mass.
