Box Score 2 MYRLTE BEACH, SC - The Cadets lost their last two games of their Myrtle Beach trip. Penn State Beaver defeated the Cadets by a score of 8-1 in the early game and Thiel was victorious in the late game by a score of 9-0.
The early game was a hard fought contest against Penn State Beaver until Penn State was able to pull away late. After the first inning, the game was 2-1 in favor of the Beavers and would remain that way until the top of the 4th inning when Penn State added an insurance run.
Maren McGinn (Georgia, Vt.) was again solid in the circle only giving up two earned runs and eight hits over seven innings while striking out four. The defense struggled again committing eight errors which led to six of the Penn State runs on the day. Offensively,
Julia Vawter (Pelhma, N.H.) was the only Cadet with multiple hits on the day going 2-for-2 and drawing a walk and
Laura Deaton (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) drove in the lone run. In total, Norwich collected 5 hits, 1 run, while forcing 5 walks.
The second game of the day saw Thiel come away with a 9-0 victory in the five inning game.
Kennedy White had a solid pitching performance only giving up one earned run in her three innings pitched. Two early errors in the game allowed the Tomcats to score their first four runs to build the early lead. Offensively the Cadets struggled against the exceptional pitching by Lauren Bonner who threw a complete five inning game while only allowing 2 hits on the day.
The Cadets will return to action on March 25th when they travel to Massachusetts Maritime Academy for a double header.
