Northfield, Vt. – This past weekend, the Norwich University Rifle team defeated Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at home by an overall score of 4152 – 4121.  The victory evened the season record at 2-2.  The Cadets split the small bore and air rifle portions of the competition against MIT but were victorious with their aggregate score.
 
"I cannot tell you how proud I am of these student-athletes, and the performance that they turned in," an excited Coach Knapp said.  Aiden Burris and Logan Hassell had the overall high scores in the match for the Cadets.  The team won the closely contested aggregate match and toppled MIT, no easy feat, considering how talented the MIT squad is.

"This was, and always has been, a team effort," continued Coach Knapp.  "This team has put in so much hard work in this year.  Between balancing studies, the Corps of Cadets, ROTC commitments, and life events.  The team has an overall GPA of 3.56 led by Aiden Burris and Grace Richardson.  This year's team has rebuilt the Rifle Team, and every member of the Norwich community can be proud of these young men and women.  I know that the coaches and I sure am!"
 
The team will travel to MIT on Saturday, Feb. 11, for the rematch in Cambridge, MA.
