NORTHFIELD, Vt. – On the back of a three goal third period, the Norwich University Men's Ice Hockey team earned their third straight win in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) play with a 3-1 victory over Southern Maine Friday night at Kreitzberg Arena.

The Cadets held the upper hand through the first 40 minutes despite the Huskies holding a 1-0 lead with Norwich holding the 22-15 shot advantage. The Cadets eventually broke through on their third powerplay with a goal from
Bryan O'Mara (Syracuse, N.Y.) who deflected home a
Joe Nagle (Weymouth, Mass.) point shot.
Norwich would break the tie 2:16 later with sophomore
Alex Lewis (Moncton, New Brunswick) poking home a loose puck on a net mouth scramble generated by a
Holden Doggett (Oakville, On.) shot that Southern Maine goaltender Kyle Penton struggled to smother. For good measure,
Paul Schmid (Linz, Austria) scored into an empty net in the final minute to close out the Cadet victory.
"It was a hard-fought win and I'm proud of our guys for sticking with it," said Head Coach Cam Ellsworth. "We killed a big penalty early in the period to generate momentum and it carried us through."
The eighth ranked Cadets will look to keep the momentum going when they host 15
th ranked Babson for Senior Day at 4 PM on Feb. 4.
