ROCHESTER, N.Y.- Returning to action for the first time since Nov 18, the Norwich Wrestling team journeyed to Rochester to compete in this year's Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Invitational, where they placed tenth as a team.

After taking home first place in last year's event, junior heavyweight Mason Sprinkel (Bel Air, Md.) successfully defended his crown by taking home first place. After earning a first-round bye, Sprinkel earned victories by fall in each of his next three matchups en route to the championship bout where he defeated RIT's Ryan Fischer by an 11-0 major decision. This performance puts Sprinkel's record on the year at 15-1, with 12 of those wins via pin.

Also earning places on the podium were two Cadets in the 197-pound class in Thoren Berg (Holliston, Mass.) and Michel St. Juste (Atlantic City, N.J.). Berg scored three pins on his way to the third-place match, while St. Juste took three bouts by decision, and a win by tech fall before the two teammates met in the third-place match where St. Juste was given the win by default.

Next up for Norwich is an appearance at the Williams Open on Jan 6.
