NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Sam Lebruska (Lynnfield, Mass.) and
Leah Mathewson (North Chelmsford, Mass.) of the Norwich University volleyball team were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, as announced by the CSC (formerly CoSIDA) on Tuesday afternoon.
Lebruska spearheaded the team offensively this past season, leading the squad with 127 kills while sitting second with 154 points. Lebruska maintained a 3.9 GPA as a criminal justice major.
Lebruska finished her career with 176 kills and 383 digs, also adding 40 aces and 21 assists in 49 games played.
Mathewson, meanwhile, led the team in points with 169.5, logging 104 kills and a team-best 51 service aces. A mathematics major, Mathewson carried a 3.8 GPA.
Over her career, Mathewson owned marks of 286 kills and 76 aces. She also dished out 23 helpers and logged 104 digs.
In order to be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District distinction, a player must be a sophomore athletically or higher, hold a 3.50 cumulative grand point average (GPA) or higher, and must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's sets or must have started in at least 66 percent of the sets.Â
