BANGOR, Maine - The Norwich University men's and women's swimming & diving teams wrapped up their weekend trip in Maine with a seismic sweep over Husson University on Sunday afternoon at Webber Pool.
The Cadet women avenged a narrow loss to the Eagles from last season behind a 159-122 final, while the Norwich men soared past Husson, 179-118, as both teams continued their hot starts to the season after sweeping Maine Maritime Academy yesterday.
"This team has really shown their courage over the weekend with some big performances and no excuses," said Head Coach
Jennifer Cournoyer. "It is exciting to see this team forming into a collective unit pushing and motivating one another The strong competition of both Maine Maritime Academy and Husson pushes us to show up bringing our best effort."
Despite a meet-opening win by Husson's women's 400 medley relay team, the Cadets were not swayed by the Eagles' momentum at all, accumulating three-straight wins en route to claiming victory in 19 of 32 events. The men's 400 medley relay team, which gave Norwich their first win of the contest, broke a 35-year old pool record on 3:44.05, surpassing the record time of 3:52.51 set by the Westbrook Seals in July of 1988.
