ATTLEBORO, Mass – The Norwich University Women's Ice Hockey team got back in the win column with a 3-0 shutout of Johnson & Wales Saturday afternoon at the New England Sports Village.
Twelve minutes into the contest the Cadets got on the board after pouring on the pressure courtesy of junior
Aimee Headland (Nottingham, U.K.). On the goal freshman defender
Sophie Zemianek (St. Albans, Vt.) notched an assist for her first collegiate point.
Norwich continued to press in the second period. Eventually,
Taylor Girouard (Burlington, Mass.) would score her third goal in the last two games. Before the period concluded freshman
Olivia Boyer (St. Paul, Minn.) would tally the third goal. The Cadets held the fort on the defensive side as they helped freshman netminder
Madison Brunet (Timmins, On.) record her first career shutout.
"Our team played with grit and purpose tonight, and everyone contributed in different ways," Head Coach Sophie Leclerc said. "Madi came up big when she needed to, and it allowed our team to play with confidence in front of her."
On deck for the eighth ranked Cadets is a non-conference visit to fourth ranked Amherst Tuesday night.
