Box Score 2 NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Norwich University softball team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader to Albertus Magnus in crossover division action on Saturday.
The Cadets fell 14-4 in five innings and then 10-0 in five innings to drop their 9th and 10th straight games.
Sophomore Laura Deaton (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) led the Cadets' offense in the first game, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Sophomore Annika Beebe (Marianna, Fla.) had a hit and a RBI, while Sydney Wood (Proctor, Vt.) had two hits and two runs scored to round out the offensive leaders. Freshman Emma DeGoosh (Bradford, Vt.) had a hit and a run scored as well.
Norwich (8-18, 1-11 GNAC North) had two hits in Game 2 with Kennedy White (Randolph Center, Vt.) and Julia Vawter (Pelham, N.H.) picked up hits.
Albertus Magnus (26-6, 12-0 GNAC South) stayed undefeated on the season in conference play with the sweep.
Norwich was officially eliminated from postseason contention with the loss. The Cadets have four conference games remaining, including at Univ. of St. Joseph (Conn.) on Sunday and then hosting Johnson & Wales on Friday, April 29 as part of Senior Day.
