Box Score STANDISH, Maine – The Norwich University women's basketball team faced off against Saint Joseph's College in a rematch of last Saturday's contest, but were unable to down the Monks, falling 78-46 at Saint Joseph's on Monday.
The Cadets' Maren McGinn (Georgia, Vt.) scored 10 points in the loss while shooting 80 percent from the field. Brittany Graham (Rye, N.H.) added nine points and Hannah Stitely (Westminster, Md.) tallied seven points in the matchup. Haley Brewster (Virginia Beach, Va.) led the Cadets in rebounds, pulling down five.
Norwich and the Monks both had baskets early in the matchup, with Stitely knocking down a jumper early on. Saint Joseph's then scored the next five points before Graham hit a three with which Nina Howe responded to by knocking down one of her own.
After trailing after the first quarter 21-14, the Monks knocked down three pointers while outscoring the Cadets 17-8, taking a 38-22 lead into the halftime break.
The Monks continued to outscore Norwich 25-14 in the third quarter and 15-10 in the fourth on their way to the victory.
Norwich (8-10, 6-5 GNAC) now will turn their attention to Emmanuel on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 5:30 pm. They will then prep for a visit from Dean on Saturday Feb. 12 at 1 pm, before hosting Rivier at 7 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 15. After visiting Regis on Thursday, Feb. 17, they will host the University of St. Joseph on Saturday, Feb. 19 when they celebrate their Seniors with their Senior day contest against the Blue Jays.
