Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's basketball team fell to Saint Joseph's College on Saturday in Andrews Hall, 75-47, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest.
The Cadets were led by a combination of Rachel Botala (Grand Isle, Vt.) and Brittany Graham (Rye, N.H.) who had 13 points each. Silas Bernier (Jaffrey, N.H.) pulled down seven boards and Alexis Matte (Lebanon, N.H.) dished out three assists.
The Cadets started strong holding the Cadets to 25 percent shooting in the first quarter. Norwich allowed five points in the first 1:23 of the game, but held the Monks to 7 points in the following 8:37.
In the second quarter the Cadets offense was able to muster up 14 points, however the Monks offense clicked, and started shooting at high efficiency scoring 25 points on 57.1 percent shooting from the field.
The Monks who are the second ranked offense in the GNAC scoring 72.4 points per game while shooting a league high 33.3 percent from the field, were able to outscore the Cadets 17-7 in the third quarter.
Norwich scored 17 points in the fourth quarter, but the Monks were hot shooting 63.6 percent from the field on their way to clinching the victory.
Norwich (8-9, 6-4 GNAC) will have their rematch with the Monks on Monday, Feb. 7 at 5:30 pm. The Cadets will then visit Emmanuel in Boston on Wednesday, Feb. 9 before hosting Dean on Saturday, Feb. 12.
