Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – The Norwich University women's basketball team jumped out to an early lead in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Quarterfinal against No. 1 seeded Emmanuel, but was unable to keep it, falling 69-47 on Wednesday night to the Saints at Andy Yosinoff Court.
Freshman Haley Brewster (Virginia Beach, Va.) knocked down five three-pointers for 15 points on the night while dishing out three assists. Brittany Graham (Rye, N.H.) pulled down seven rebounds, while MacKenzie Moore (Georgia, Vt.) added nine points with five boards.
The Saints first four points were score by Loredana D'Agostino, as Emmanuel went up 4-3 in the opening 2:47 but Norwich had an 8-2 stretch that saw the Cadets take the lead 11-6. The Saints then scored the final eight points of the first quarter to take an 11-16 lead into the second frame.
Norwich ended Emmanuel's 18-point run with 5:45 remaining in the first half after Katelyn DeSilvio (Chelmsford, Mass.) converted a layup attempt. Alexis Matte (Lebanon, N.H.) then knocked down a jumper to pull the Cadets within nine. Another run by the Saints then put the Cadets down by 18-points before a basket by Maren McGinn (Georgia, Vt.) closed the gap going into the halftime break with the Saints leading 33-17.
Emmanuel outscored Norwich 23-11 in the third quarter, before the Cadets battled to outscore the Saints 19-13 in the final frame to close out the contest.
Norwich (10-15, 7-9 GNAC) closes out their season with a loss in the GNAC Quarterfinals. The Cadets have reached the Quarterfinals in back-to-back GNAC Tournaments. This was also the first season that Norwich has hosted a GNAC postseason game in Andrews Hall since 2016-17 when they hosted Suffolk for a GNAC Quarterfinal tilt.
