Box Score WESTON, Mass. – The Norwich women's basketball team traveled to Regis in a rescheduled contest of their Jan. 6 matchup against the Pride, falling 56-29 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play Thursday at Higgins Court.
MacKenzie Moore (Georgia, Vt.) and Haley Brewster (Virginia Beach, Va.) both led the Cadets with seven points each, but Moore held the edge with six rebounds while dishing out an assist to pair with two steals in the contests.
In the opening quarter, Norwich jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after buckets by Maren McGinn (Georgia, Vt.) and Hannah Stitely (Westminster, Md.) put them up early. Regis' Arie Searcy then connected with a layup 1:54 into the contest and Pam Gonzalez coming off the bench was then the spark that gave the Pride the lead with back-to-back three-pointers.
After taking a 16-8 lead into the second quarter, Regis was unable to capitalize as the Cadets outscored the Pride 9-8 in the second frame, with Brewster and Moore combining for all nine points.
Regis recovered in the third quarter, with Gonzalez knocking down 50 percent of her shots and three shots from the free throw line for a total of eight points as Regis outscored Norwich 21-7.
Regis held off the Cadets again in the fourth quarter scoring 11 points in the frame to the Cadets five.
The Cadets held Regis to a 31.6 shooting percentage in the loss.
Norwich (9-13, 7-8 GNAC) host University of St. Joseph on Saturday, in their final regular season contest of the season. They will then play Tuesday, Feb. 22 in the first round of the GNAC Tournament. The official matchups will be announced following the conclusion of Saturday's GNAC contests.
