Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich women's basketball team was unable to overcome the tough defense of Rivier on Tuesday evening in Andrews Hall in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tilt.
Coming off the bench, Silas Bernier (Jaffrey, N.H.) led all scorers with 12 points, while dishing out three assists, with five rebounds. Freshman MacKenzie Moore (Georgia, Vt.) scored in double figures with 10 points with seven rebounds while recording a steal.
After falling behind 33-19 in the first half, Norwich was able to begin to cut into the Raider lead with a layup by Moore 33 seconds into the second half. Norwich scored the opening five points of the third frame, cutting the lead to single digits, before Lyric Grumblatt knocked down a three-pointer for Rivier.
Rivier went on extend their lead slightly in the third frame holding a slight 12-10 edge in the third quarter, and holding off the Cadets 19-15 in the fourth on their way to the 64-44 victory.
Norwich (9-12, 7-7 GNAC) will now turn their focus to a matchup in Weston, Mass. on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 6 pm against Regis College. They will then round out the regular season schedule on Saturday, Feb. 19 when they host University of St. Joseph for a 3 pm matchup. The Cadets will celebrate Senior Day against the Blue Jays.
