Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men's basketball team saw three major milestones reached Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest against Dean on Senior Day.
Prior to the game Norwich recognized five players and their team manager who are graduating in May. Donovan Lewis Jr. (Savannah, Ga.), Kyle Booth (Northfield, Vt.), Caleb Casinas (Aiea, Hawaii) Spencer Conatser (Reno, Nev.), Samuel-Noah Osarenkhoe (Stockholm, Sweden) and the team's student-manager, John Hardee, were all recognized in a pregame ceremony for their contributions to the team.
The Cadets also saw two players reach the 1000-point milestone in the contest, with Kyle Booth and Lewis Jr. both hitting the milestone in the second half of the matchup. Head men's basketball coach Paul Booth also reached 300 victories as the head coach of the Cadets.
Lewis Jr. came into the day needing 25 points to hit 1000-point for his career, closing the game by scoring 28 points and bringing down seven rebounds. Booth scored six points entering the contest needing five points to hit the career milestone. Kohlby Murray (Fair Haven, Vt.) scored 19 points, knocking down 5 shots from beyond the three-point line and Jalen Olivero (Holyoke, Mass.) earned 10 points while dishing out eight assists.
After Dean took a 39-38 lead into the locker room, the Cadets and Bulldogs battled to a 71-69 Dean lead with 3:38 remaining in the contest, but Murray knocked down threes on back-to-back possessions to take a 75-71 lead and clinch the matchup in favor of the Cadets.
Norwich (12-10, 7-7 GNAC) will host the Raiders of Rivier in Andrews Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 5 pm before they return the visit, going to Rivier on Thursday, Feb. 17. The Cadets will then close out the season with a 1 pm matchup against the University of St. Joseph on Saturday, Feb. 19 to close out the regular season.
