NORTHFIELD, Vt. -  The Norwich University men's basketball team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tilt against Elms 81-72 on Tuesday evening in Andrews Hall.

Jaydon Cousin (Savannah, Ga.) scored 19 points coming off the bench while knocking down eight shots and brought down six boards. Kyle Booth (Northfield, Vt.) shot 50 percent from beyond the arc, scoring 16 points while pulling down eight rebounds, and Jalen Olivero (Holyoke, Mass.) dished out seven assists in the matchup.

The Cadets and Elms both played to a 4-4 tie before a three-pointer by Spencer Conatser (Reno, Nev.) fell, giving the Cadets the lead. Elms and Norwich battled defensively with no team able to grab an advantage for long as Norwich held a 14-10 at the 8:13 after Booth knocked down a three.

Norwich was unable to created separation with the Blazers eventually taking a five-point lead into the second half. The Cadets were held to 34.3 percent shooting from the field while Elms shot a slightly better 36.1 percent.

After the Cadets opened the second half with a basket, Elms used a 12-point scoring run to take command of the contest, jumping out to a 17-point lead. The Blazers pushed the lead to as many as 20 points with 12:01 remaining in the matchup.  Norwich then used a nine-point run of their own over the course of 49 seconds as they cut into the Blazers' lead.

The Cadets were able to cut the lead down to nine points with 1:54 remaining but were unable to capitalize eventually falling to Elms.

Norwich (9-9, 4-6 GNAC) will travel to Colby-Sawyer on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 pm.  The Cadets will then be visited by Saint Joseph's College on Saturday, Feb. 5 for a 1 pm tilt in Andrews Hall. After visiting Emmanuel for a contest on Wednesday, Feb. 9 Norwich will celebrate their seniors on Saturday, Feb. 12 against Dean.
